Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “vision of a robust sports ecosystem, nurturing talent at the grassroots level and turning sports into a lucrative and viable career option” is in line with Thakur’s assessment of the action.

According to him, the Sports Ministry and the Department of Personnel and Training have collaborated to provide “progressive revisions to the eligibility criteria for sportspersons seeking government jobs.”

Medal winners from the Khelo India Games—Youth, University, Para, and Winter Games—now qualify for government employment thanks to this ground-breaking move. In addition, events and activities have been precisely outlined to guarantee inclusion in a variety of sports, according to Thakur’s post on X.

He said, “These new regulations represent a major step in helping our athletes make Bharat a sporting superpower.”

2018 saw the first Khelo India Games, a project of the Modi government aimed at reviving sports culture at the local level.
